Shelving is the one category where getting the wall wrong is dangerous rather than annoying.
- Wall type
- Masonry takes a plug; drywall needs a proper anchor. A shelf holding books on a plasterboard plug will come down.
- Load per shelf
- Stated where the maker states it. Books are far heavier per foot than anything else people put on shelves.
- Flat-pack
- Most units ship flat and are assembled by you. The page says which, and we do not offer an assembly service.
- Doorways and stairs
- Measure the narrowest point of the route, not just the room. An assembled unit that fits the wall may not reach it.
